Weekly Writing Post #1

Sometimes, attempting to look at the world through someone else point of view may be hard, but in some cases, its necessary to understand why some people feel the way they do. The BLM is a very controversial issue in the world we live in today.  In the article by Clay Rivers, "The Reason You Can’t Understand What Black Americans Are Going Through", he believes that people don't understand what Black Americans are going through because they aren't putting their selves in the position of a Black American. Clay compares this to “little people”. If we aren’t part of the little people category, then we have no clue what it’s like to be little unless we view life through their point of view. It could be hard to try and feel what someone else is feeling when the problem isn't necessarily directed towards you. I agree with Clay because if the sides were flipped, and white people were mistreated like black people they wouldn't like it. Black people are and have been treated unfairly in today’s society and even in the past whether that be police brutality, white supremacy, or even walking into the grocery store and being stared at just because the color of your skin. The ones that think the BLM movement is making a negative effect on black communities are the ones that aren’t willing to listen and understand why the movement is doing what they’re doing. If you don’t understand the problem that’s going on, then you may be part of the problem. Try and put yourself in the position of a black American and tell me if you will feel the same.
